Last Week of School

We met another homeschooling family who loves to go crabbing and has all the gear. So we spent Monday afternoon at the Goleta Pier fishing and crabbing. We didn't catch any fish, but we did catch a crab.

Watching the oil rig shift change boat

Roman's shirt had a hole in it; the boys also found some spare fishing line on the pier. So they decided to make a kite out of Roman's shirt.

Field trip to the SB Marine Museum - We had gotten a library pass to get in for free. We had a bored docent show us around and learned so much about SB history. It was a very well done museum.

The virtual deep sea fishing is a favorite.

Surfing

Learning about the Japanese attack during WWII on a local area.

Santa Barbara Harbor

Taking a hike in the open space near our house. Spring is in full bloom and glorious in California.

All of our noses started running during this walk.

Riley and Amelia catching lizards in our back yard when her family came over for dinner.

On our last day of school, Colleen had started a headcold. So she spent the morning with Dad, eating work snacks and treats while Amelia & Austin went on a birding walk with the SB Audubon group. The birders were so kind, pointing out birds and teaching the kids so many fun things. They made sure they got to see the baby birds in a box and use their fancy birding telescopes.

Then later that afternoon we went to the MOXI museum on a free library pass.

Lots of Fishing & 6K for Water

Another puzzle down!

Park play date

Amelia & Austin had standardized testing for two days this week. We asked Elijah and Jackson to come home after testing with us for the afternoon to hang out with Austin. They had fun playing games and battling airplanes and army men.

Going fishing in the afternoon. It was much colder and more windy than when we had gone previously. We practiced prepping our bait and poles as well as fishing for an hour or so.

We didn't catch anything, but everyone was so content.

Science experiments continue

More fishing

Saturday morning we attended the homeschool ladies' tea. Whitney & Chara hosted a table just for the younger girls. Amelia & I sat at their mom's table.

After the tea, we changed into our 6k shirts and drove to Ledbetter beach to complete our 6k for Water. We walked the shoreline for 3k and then turned around and returned. The spring flowers along the beach were amazing!
