2019 Family Photos
As I was sitting in the ER with Colleen, waiting for her to get her forehead glued together, I suddenly remembered that our annual family photos were scheduled for 2 days later. Such is life! When I received the photos from the photographer, she had graciously digitally removed the purple glue from all over Colleen's forehead. There are a few in the set to remind us of this funny moment. As always, we were super-happy with the moments she was able to capture with her camera, letting our kids be their goofy selves while she followed them around.
Amelia's 8th Birthday
Amelia's official birthday celebrations started on the eve before her birthday. We had made her requested ice cream cake earlier in the week, and she had been begging to dig in all week. So we had some friends over for pizza at the last minute and cut into her strawberry/cookies-n-cream layered ice cream cake. Gold and pink sprinkles designed by the birthday girl.
We had given Amelia some different options on how to celebrate her birthday; she chose to spend the day at the Liberty Science Center with two friends - Mia and Camila. She was excited to have a day without siblings, buying lunch at the museum (we usually pack our own) and being with friends. The girls were giddy when we arrived.
They really had fun at the museum; it was a slower weekend day than I had expected. So they were able to really sit and enjoy each exhibit. They did a great job of balancing what each girl wanted to do while hitting up all the special presentations that we could.
Here they are simulating painting with bacteria in petri dishes and then baking them to change their designs. (There was a video of real 'art' created this way.)
This rocket presentation ended up with both Amelia and Camila participating!
They dug for a LONG time on the fossil dig. The entire weekend was dinosaur-themed, so all of the labs and special activities went along with the theme.
Grossed out by a sheep's brain at the brain presentation. But they did have fun doing the different puzzles that used different parts of the brain. Mia was chosen to complete one of the puzzles.
The skywalk was on all of their to-do lists. All three girls did it twice and loved it.
There was a rat demonstration, called the "rat olympics". Amelia was chosen as a volunteer to hold a team sign.
The Infinity Climber and ice cream was a great way to end the outing.
After we dropped the other girls off, we headed out to Amelia's birthday dinner of choice - sushi - as a family. Colleen sported an unintentional silly hairstyle.
We were discussing that we had a lot of ice cream cake to eat up; so at the very last minute, we asked Ishita if they wanted to come over for cake as Rachit & Nidhi were visiting over the weekend. Unfortunately, Viaan had a fever so he could not come, and Rohit stayed with him. But the rest enjoyed cake and a few hands of cards before bedtime.
Happy Birthday, Amelia! It's crazy to think that time keeps marching on and now you are 8!
