Blacksmith Field Trip

A dad in our homeschool community was at a yard sale and struck up a conversation with a gentleman who ended up having an extensive blacksmithing setup in his backyard. The dad asked if he would be willing to host a field trip for us, and the gentleman loved the idea. His hobby included three forges and an extensive collection of tools. He and his wife welcomed our group and let the kids each make a hook and a cross.

He also had this setup where the kids could work on making a wooden mallet while waiting for their turn at the forges.

After a fun day of creating projects, we scurried back to Santa Barbara for one of Amelia's ballet performances.

It was a weekend of ballet performances as Colleen and I went to see Brynn's spring recital.

Ansel Adams Study

We were studying Ansel Adams this month. So each kid got an old iphone, and we went to the Douglas Preserve for some photo taking.

And a little geocaching

The kids came home and spent some time manipulating their photos.

Latch hook pillows & Genetics Planting

The girls enjoyed a lot of crafting time in the spring.

Colleen added a strap to her sunhat for beach days.

Finishing their latch-hook pillows.

Sundar came out and visited; Patrick and he enjoyed a gorgeous sunset dinner.

We hosted some friends over for a craft play date for Colleen's birthday.

More time with friends

We visited Kristen, Duke, Dane, & Devereaux for an afternoon. Devereaux thought sword fighting with Austin was the best.

Our botany genetics project started with planting seeds and thinning them.
