The LORD your God is with you,
he is mighty to save.
He will take great delight in you,
he will quiet you with his love,
he will rejoice over you with singing.
Zephaniah 3:17
Austin Loring Hanks was born on Thursday, August 22 at 8:31pm. He surprised us all by making his grand debut in about 5.5 hours (1.5 hours after we arrived at the hospital!) He weighed 7lb 10oz and is 22" long.
Mary, our awesome labor and delivery nurse, who told me when I walked in the door that she thought we'd have a baby in less then 2 hours. I guess she has the experience to predict.
Amelia meeting her brother.
She asked to kiss him and 'pet' him. She did a great job being gentle.
Patrick says something is not right about this photo. I say - let the man holding the sleeping baby eat his breakfast in peace.
Well, Baby #2's due date has come and gone, but we haven't been sitting around while waiting. Grammie flew in early just-in-case and has made this last week significantly easier on me physically. It's amazing how much less pain you are in when you don't have to get on the floor all the time!
Some pre-nap reading
A few art projects
Picking & watering tomatoes
I've gotten some sewing time in!
Grammie has been a great patient
And assistant while Amelia builds
One evening Amelia asked to do the 'piggies' on Daddy. So she pulled out the book that has the rhyme in it and then proceeded to do so.
Daddy and Amelia 'sumo wrestle' a lot, but recently she's requesting 'sumo spin' and 'sumo flip' as seen here.
A little bean bag toss
By a last minute series of events, my dad had work in the northeast so he drove up to us for about 36 hours. Poor guy hit massive traffic on the drive up and flight delays on his way home, and then we still put him to work on a few tasks while here.
Holding the ladder for Pappy while changing a light bulb
A beautiful morning to visit the park again
Hopefully this baby will come soon so everyone can love on him/her also!
This past Saturday was all about playing outside with Amelia. We went to our nearby park and played hard, followed up by water table play and post-nap time sprinkler play. We have had some gorgeous weather, perfect for getting sweaty and wet but not too hot to worry about overheating.

And she's off!
Pretending to sleep
Pretending to make lemonade
Washing hair
She was so thrilled to have a full day of just playing. It's not often that we don't have errands or projects to fill a Saturday.
