Charles Dickens Christmas Fair & Alcatraz Island

We drove up to San Francisco to attend the Charles Dickens' Christmas Fair. The day was full of fun costumes and people-watching as the center was turned into London in Victorian England. There were stages throughout with different kinds of performances.

We watched a lot of dancing in Fezziwig's Dance Hall.

Patrick was pulled onstage for the first kid show of the day with a mime.

Then Austin was chosen to participate in a competition to throw apples towards a bullseye.

Father Christmas made an appearance in a parade of chimney sweeps.

When we went to the "docks" area for the sea shanty sing-a-long, there was a couple with a parrot! They let each of us hold it.

Austin's favorite part of the day was the shanties. Everyone sung along.

Another talented kids' performer.

On Sunday, we headed to Alcatraz Island. It had been a rainy weekend, but we came prepared.

Standing in the recreational area where prisoners would line up for laundry duty.

They received their Junior Ranger badges!

It was a whirlwind weekend, but so much fun!
