As everyone predicted, time has continued to fly by and Amelia is five months old! Her current obsessions include her feet, buzzing her lips, happy shrieking, and a lot of standing. I spent most of this photo shoot trying to convince her to let go of her feet and to not buck herself out of the chair as she kept trying to stand. We may have to wait and do these when Daddy is home on weekends in the future. :-)
The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing. Zephaniah 3:17

Friends: Baby Variety
Although we don't know many people yet, Amelia and I have been working on making new friends.
These kiddos are from the New Mom's group that I attend through the local hospital. Tristan and Amelia have the same birthday while Emma is just a few weeks younger.
We are thankful for these new friends who give us tips on our new city and keep this mommy sane with adult conversation!

When Daddy saw this photo, he gave Amelia a long lecture on not holding hands with boys, even if they're "wholesome Greek" ones as Tristan's mama describes him. :)
On a walk with Emma
These ladies are the daughters of Patrick's co-workers. I've gotten together with them every couple of weeks for a lunch date. Jamison is teaching Amelia all her new tricks (crawling!) at 11 months while Emily is bigger than Amelia even though she's a month younger.

This past week has been a special week of visitors - 3 in one week!
Our friend Laura from New Jersey came down and stayed with us for a few days. We went into DC on one afternoon and visited the Postal Museum and made a brief stop at the Natural History Museum.
We also had Michael (another Auburn alum) come stay with us while he was attending a neuroscience conference. On Saturday, the boys watched football and Amelia joined in for awhile. Amelia had a melt down when we tried to turn her away from the game. Granted, this was during the first quarter while we still had a chance to win....
And then Whitney, my roommate from Auburn, came to DC for work and met us for dinner at a great Spanish tapas restaurant. Amelia did great for being out past her bedtime with only minor fussyness. The restaurant was so dark that this i-phone photo will have to do!
Thanks friends for coming to visit over the last few months! It has made moving to a new city so much fun!

We learned all about the special design that went into the postal trucks (among many other things).
Did you know the Hope Diamond was actually mailed from England to the Smithsonian?!? Mailed instead of using a courier! They had the package it was mailed in - normal brown paper wrapping for less than $150 of postage and insurance. Crazy!
Reviewing the Smithsonian stamp collection. A group of philatelists congratulated me on starting her early. :)
Amelia having fun with Laura!
Amelia was in AWE of the fish tanks.
Thanks Laura for a fun outing!

Autumn
With autumn here, we have not stopped enjoying time outside, but rather have been fascinated by the wind moving the trees and all the leaves.
Amelia is laughing at silly Daddy who is waving branches around her.
Amelia is desperate to roll over. She's done it just once - both Daddy and Mommy were watching!
We're still spending a lot of time on our tummy, blowing bubbles, and enjoying our new cat and quilt.
Watching the tree branches blow around keeps Amelia entertained for a long time!
Daddy has started working on Amelia's drinking from a cup skills.
Amelia's gaining coordination with her hands and starting to bring everything to her mouth.
It's been a lovely autumn so far!

Pappy & Grammie Come to Visit
Pappy and Grammie made an impromptu visit over Halloween.
We are excited to be seeing both sets of grandparents in less than two weeks!
Saturday's forecast had been for rain. It quickly turned to snow/sleet mix. Amelia is being posed with it snowing outside, but you can't really tell.
A better view, early on, of the snow on our deck, but Amelia was definitely more interested in eating her fist.

More Delight
Here are just some recent photos of Amelia. Her willingness to look at the camera makes Mommy pull out the camera even more!
Sorry for the red eye! I'm not sure how to fix them without downloading other software.
Just so tired. It's a good thing Daddy is here to cuddle!
While her feet don't touch the ground yet, she LOVES sitting up in the walker

Four Months
Amelia had her four month appointment and we were pleased with how well she is doing! She is 25.5 inches long (90% !) and 13 pounds, 6.6 ounces. Amelia's recent achievements have been lots of happy shrieking and a lot of laughter. We've found her ticklish spots and use them frequently!
