Disney World - Animal Kingdom

We hit the Animal Kingdom on Day 3. It was also decked out with Christmas decorations.

Tree of Life

One of the kids' favorite movies is Up. So they were pretty excited to go hunting for wilderness explorer badges after their initial ceremony.

Our first morning ride was the Kilimanjaro Safari. It was phenomenal to see all the animals around you while riding through their habitat. The major animals were there - hippos, elephants, crocodiles, flamingos, rhinoceros, cheetahs, lions, hyenas, etc - along with many other beautiful animals.

Fun fact of the day: a group of flamingos is called a "flamboyance".

Seeing all kinds of animals as we go along the Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail, looking for wilderness badges to collect.

Festival of the Lion King show was fantastic. The performers really put on a great show!

Goofing off while we ordered lunch.

On our walk to lunch, we saw Kevin and Russell from Up.

After lunch, we took Amelia and Austin on a big kid ride - the Kali River Rapids. They LOVED it and would have stood in line for an hour to ride it again.

We then headed back to DinoLand to ride the Triceratop Spin ride.

The kids found their happy place digging in the Boneyard.

We ended our day at the Animal Kingdom by watching the Finding Nemo musical. Again, the performers were amazing in their acting and puppeteering.

Finishing off their Disney trip with a Disney treat!

Interestingly, Austin & Colleen wanted fruit pops instead of ice cream.

On our walk out of the park, we saw these interesting puppeteers.

While waiting for the return bus, Uncle Nathan & Aunt Laura gave the kids each a "First Visit" pin.

Aunt Laura took some sweet photos of the kids on the ride back to the Lodge.

The kids asked if we could explore the Lodge a bit more on our last evening there. So we walked to some of the animal viewing points.

The bridge across the Lodge was pretty exciting.
