Camarillo Air Show 2025

We drove down to the Camarillo Air Show. Kids started with climbing inside all kinds of military vehicles and airplanes. We sat and watched the show but also wandered around the exhibitors in between the planes that interested us.

We had grabbed a place near one of the front areas so the kids were able to get photos with these jumpers.

The pyrotechnics were Austin & Colleen's favorite.

The jumpers are amazing.

This guy flew his plane all throughout Africa and let any kids climb in.

Doing pull-ups for the Marines.

We went and chatted with the lady who started off the airshow and is one the first to become a trainer in aeronautic acrobatics.

Such a fun day!

Rock Climbing with Friends

Back home in sunny SoCal and the girls had fun hunting for lizards.

She still loves to dress up so much.

I set up a field trip to the kids' Rock Gym one afternoon. Their friends had a great time trying out rock climbing and were uncertain about letting Austin belay them until the manager confirmed that he was experienced and capable. Then he had a line of friends waiting for him to belay them.

This girl has been climbing with Austin off and on over the spring & summer; she was tireless at the field trip. Coach Wyatt stopped and watched her a few times before coming and asking me if we would be interested in letting her join the climbing team.

Bowling fun

A few hours at these friends' home always turns into a dancing performance.

Olympic National park

Prior to our cruise, I had been looking at the itinerary for the multi-month RV road trip planned by our friends, Donna, Ben, & William. Patrick looked over my shoulder and pointed out that they would be in the Seattle area the same weekend that we were returning. So we reached out and planned to share a quick weekend at Olympic National Park with them.

When we got off the cruise ship, Colleen was running a fever and curled up on the bed in the airBnB as soon as we arrived. We had originally planned on having dinner with Donna, Ben, & William at their RV park. So Patrick took the big kids over to spend the evening and to celebrate Ben's birthday.

The next morning, Colleen was fever-free, but we decided that she would only visit the Visitor's Center.

At the last minute (literally in the parking lot), Donna decided to come back to the house with Colleen and I while Patrick and Ben took the kids to the Ranger Talk & hike.

Colleen was definitely feeling better. She had fun in the dress-up clothes that the house had and reading some new books while Donna and I chatted all day.

Dinner together

Then they came over the next morning for us to have breakfast before we headed to the airport.
