We suddenly had multiple days with no sicknesses and it happened to coincide with spring making brief appearances. These two have caused much rejoicing in our home!
Park time almost every day
Breaking out the bubbles and chalk after so many months without.
I roasted a chicken one night and Amelia asked if she and Daddy could "share meat from a bone". This girl is still excited to share this with Daddy.
To celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday we had green scrambled eggs with lunch. The kids thought it was hysterical and requested it daily for the rest of the week.
This photo is horribly blurry but we met a friend for a Costco lunch/shopping date. My friend took this photo of my pregnant self pushing all 4 kids. We did get some funny looks but the kids had awesome behavior and LOVED being out with their friends.
The circus came to town and we took the kids. It was a great kids-level circus - hula hoops and juggling and acrobats and dog tricks. Nothing too frightening or death-defying. So they've been pretending "circus" for days now, balancing random toys on their heads and 'juggling'.
Going on a weeknight and buying the cheaper seats in the back = lots of room to ourselves!
We even felt well enough to have friends over for an afternoon and dinner.
Pizza Night
Trying to do as much as possible while we are well before this baby comes. We took the kids to the YMCA pool on the Saturday afternoon. The water was decently warm and they had a lot of fun and lasted much longer than we had anticipated; we hauled them out because we were hungry for dinner, not because they were ready to go.
Then the weather went crazy on us and hit the low-mid 70's for a few days. We know it won't stay around until May, but we have spent every available moment outside during this time.
I randomly put her hair in a bun one morning and she was so thrilled about it. For a girl who demands a ponytail just about every day, it was nice for some variety.
We pulled out their t-ball set and have spent almost every evening playing with it.
We moved our monthly haircut from the bathtub to outside. Amelia asked if she could take photos and here is what she came up with.
Meeting friends on park dates makes all of us chipper.
Yes, they are piled on a froggy potty. Outside at a park. Don't ask.
The biggest development in our house over the last couple of weeks - Amelia started seriously reading, completely on her own. She basically asked to read us a Dr Seuss book one day and we assumed that she had just memorized it (and probably had mostly). Then she asked for something else to read and started reading books to us that I was sure she hadn't completely memorized. I checked out a bunch of early reader/BOB books from the library and she's been devouring them, reading to Austin every day. Then she asked Daddy if she could read part of the Bible one night and here's what she came up with:
We can't take credit for any of this - it's entirely her own doing.
If you need hard boiled eggs peeled, these are the ones to hire.
This kid has started entering the kitchen right behind me and asking "Mommy, what can I do to help?" It's super sweet, but he gets really frustrated when there isn't any kid-appropriate tasks.
Because dressing up in a bow tie is pretty awesome.
