We spent a lot of time outside this week, and it was good for our souls!
We started on Monday afternoon by visiting a new location for us - Willowwood Arboretum. Our missionary friend Erica introduced us to geocaching and asked if we'd like to complete our first here. So we started off with a hike around the property; it was gorgeous in this season, and we can't wait to visit again in the Spring! We tried to find the cache using Erica's GPS, but both her GPS and my phone died while we were hunting. So we had to leave without the cache, but the kids were still happy with our outing.
Amelia had to write a letter to a veteran as part of her Girls on the Run program. She did this completely independently.

Erica had visited the Arboretum again during the week to find the cache; we met her and her dad, Mr. Bob, for the kids to find their first cache "in a ring of roots of a young cedar." By now, we had both downloaded the app to make life easier, so the find was pretty quick. The kids were thrilled. The cache was really cool - a 3D printed pinecone.
We signed the log with our newly formed family-team name. We debated names all week, but the kids chose "masterpieces210" which comes from a Bible verse we refer to often in our family - Ephesians 2:10.
Mr. Bob is full of good "dad jokes" and other quips. He brought the kids to these trees to show them where he had seen 'elephant legs'.
Then they took us on a hike on "Patriot's Path". It was an amazing evening with perfect golden light on the fields of dried grasses and leaves.

Mr. Bob took us right to this tree that is perfect for balancing, as well as a split rock for climbing.
Amelia took her first virtual Loom Knitting class and loved it.
On Saturday, we returned again to the Arboretum because Dad had to find the cache and see the beauty of the place for himself.
Amelia was excited to teach Austin how to loom knit.
On Sunday, we met Erica after church to try to find a multi-level cache at Natirar Park.
Erica found the cache while the children were hunting; then she walked away and prompted Amelia towards it.
