January: Caching, Art, & a Telescope

January is for geocaching! We met up with Erica for a geocaching afternoon. The winter sky in the woods was magical.

Still busy with all the Christmas gifts. He pulled out ALL THE LEGOS to play for days.

Not a good photo of the ~90 kids in our homeschool co-op. (They sit/stand youngest to oldest). I am so grateful to participate in this group.

On Monday evening, we finally had clear skies to try to see Jupiter. Sadly, the city light pollution kept us from finding it. But we had fun looking at all kinds of things.

Amelia found these two blue jay feathers in our yard.

In studying Banksy for Art History this month, one of the kids' projects was to hide sketches in a magazine. The kids loved doing this; can you find their drawings?

She loves baths and bathbombs!

Starting 2023 off with more roller skating

On Friday afternoon, we planned to hunt for a bunch of caches in a shopping center area. They were "Wonders of the World" themed. Colleen was thrilled to find the first one of the afternoon.

Super, super sneaky fake electrical piping holding a cache

The weather turned much colder shortly after we started caching. So Austin ended up using my jacket for most of the afternoon.

They found that the cache had dropped down into the drain; creatively, they tried to use snowplow markers as "chopsticks" to pick it up, but to no avail.

Final down by the river

More weekend baking for these two.

Terry & Dave from church invited us over for dinner on Sunday evening. Their dog, Ash, is pretty boisterous, but loved belly rubs from the kids.

My birthday was a low key day with CBS in the morning & the afternoon hanging out with Henry, George, & Arthur at their house. The kids played inside & out, did a lot of dress up, and building.
