The birthday boy started his birthday by working on his birthday cake. He wanted to make a specific 4 layer cake from our Gourmet cookbook.

He insisted that he would do each step all by himself.
On Saturday morning, we surprised Austin by taking him on a special ocean kayaking date. Back in July, he had made a comment during his ocean sports camp that he would love to go kayaking with just Mom and Dad. So we made it happen with a 2 hour rental. Austin & Mom shared a kayak while Dad took a single. He took us all around the places he had kayaked in camp.
Then later that afternoon we went and saw Bad Guys 2 in the theatre.
