Rainy Days, Apple Cider Pressing, & Mud Play

A day of rain  prompted Patrick to suggest that the kids wash the car.

Lucia started a monthly "Little Girls Book Club" for the girls in 1st-4th grade in our homeschool group. She reads a few books to them, and they complete crafts. It is the sweetest group of girls, and Colleen looks forward to their meetings with delight.

A natural result of studying botany this year - they stop frequently to examine plant parts.

We were invited to press apples into cider one afternoon. They all took turns cutting apples, using the peeler/slicer/corer, grinding them, and operating the press.

Taste test of all their hard work

Thanksgiving Feast with our homeschool group

Since we had rain for a few days, we knew there would be water in our favorite creek. We invited some other friends who aren't afraid of mud play to join us for playing in the creek.

Austin had worked for about a half-hour on creating a dam around this section so the water level would increase. He was very proud.

Our foxtail/swan's neck agaves are sending up their flower shoots!
