After dropping Patrick off at his conference in Baltimore, we headed over to spend a couple of nights with some friends. Joey & Josh came and visited us at the end of last summer, so it was fun to see them again.
Giggles in the hammock with Josh
Carrie & Pat are awesomely creative when it comes to playing with kids. They took all the kitchen/food/cash register items and set up half of their basement as a 'store'. All four of them could play happily in there for a looong time.
The other half of their basement is their 'trampoline' - aka old queen mattress surrounded by soft furniture and easily accessible via slide fort.
No kid is exempt from Amelia's doctoring obsession.
Picnic lunch and park date - yes please!
I turned around and she was successfully crossing these. Please tell these kids to stop growing up!
Four kids eating drippy, melting ice cream in the afternoon sun = grins and giggles galore
She doesn't hold back even if she's the only girl
More outdoor time
Joey & Josh have a 'plasma car'. I was completely unfamiliar with them, but after watching both Pat and the kids have a turn, I had to try it too. It wouldn't work with our bumpy sidewalks, but it's pretty awesome if you have a long driveway or quiet street.
Video of Amelia's first turn
Even Austin tried with Pat's help
This photo just yells "childhood" to me :)
Dinner-making
We did a second park visit on the morning before we left.
We headed to NVA to visit with Ethan & Aiden - some other friends that we left behind when we moved to NJ.
Off to another park!
While there were plenty of other playground equipment, the fire engine was the most popular with our four.
Austin loves to swing. As in, 45minutes later you're begging him to be all done and he's definitely not. He's also started randomly throwing himself forward in the baby swings, yelling "fly", "whoosh" and "airplane".
Kinetic sand
Remote control cars
One of Austin's first playtimes with a kid smaller than him. Showing Aiden how to open the gas tank.
These goofies were watching videos of themselves. Amy took care of Amelia when we went househunting in NJ (at about Austin's age now).
How they've grown!
Helping cut tomatoes for dinner
Amy has an awesome game of removing all the couch cushions for jumping on/crawling under.
Attempting a group photo
We stopped to have lunch with Great Grandma and Great Grandpa Dee's
Riding the bus to the café. Definitely the highlight and still talked about.
Eight kids and over a dozen grandkids later, Great Grandma still has the touch with her great grandkids.
