Another fair, beach trip & the end of swim lessons

We hit up another county fair one evening - it had a different set up than our 4H one, with traditional fair/carnival food vendors, amusement park rides and games, etc. Ours is definitely better in the free fun scheme, but the kids did enjoy some good 'firsts'. First set of carnival food treats (chocolate covered bacon!), watching the motorcyclists 'daring acts' in the enclosed dome (producing days of questions about why anybody would try those tricks - Amelia is literal in her fun) and a couple of small rides. It did rain off and on so not all of the rides (i.e. carousel) were operating, but the kids were just happy to be doing something new and exciting.

We show up and make a beeline for the tractor exhibit.

The 4H presence was smaller here; but they did have chicks hatching/recently hatched for the kids to see.

And Amelia was able to hold a baby chick

Ride 'em!

The local speedway had a giant tent set up with all kinds of cars inside. One of the gentlemen came over and pointed out which cars the kids could get into and gave them racing flags. The photos are pretty awful, but the kids had a lot of fun climbing into the cars.

Austin has started doing pretty well with his haircuts if we're quick about it.

A little remote control flip car time has kept us distracted outside!

Los doritos banditos have continued to make their appearance

Sneaking in one more beach trip with friends

Somehow he ended up with a sandwich bag full of pb&j sandwich and sand....

Beach bums

Amelia was the grand prize winner of our county library system raffle - she won a stuffed penguin and was THRILLED. (Since penguins are one of her most favorite animals at the zoo). I convinced our children's librarian Mrs. Carol to take a photo with her.

Last day of swim lessons - smiling girl. Our last week was a rough one; she had refused to sleep on too many naptimes and had declared on the last week that she wanted to stop. We kept going, giving her the option whether to get in or not, and surprisingly she opted to get in and try each day. She still cried a lot from the exhaustion of swimming half-lengths of the pool (which the teacher had them doing during the last week). But I was proud of her for trying. She has come so far from the first week of swim lessons and I'm glad we stuck it out.

This group was together for the last 4 weeks (4x/week) of swim lessons and Mr. Shane had quite a bit of patience to deal with all their antics and teach them.
