We had a quiet 4th of July morning planned, so we researched local parades. There ended up being a huge 70th anniversary parade in a nearby town. We had expected a normal small-town parade; it lasted for over an hour, including emergency response vehicles from at least a dozen towns, horses, bagpipers, and dozens of classic cars. It was a really great time.
Not a fan of the burning oil odors coming from the vintage Army trucks.
Waving!
We hosted two other families to celebrate the 4th. Amelia tried to cheer Arthur up when we lied him down next to Colleen to compare sizes.
The kids did a great job playing various games for a bit.
Then we pulled out the water table and sprinkler!
After everyone left, the kids watched a movie to stay up until 930pm. Then Daddy took them down to the park where the county fireworks were taking place. They had so much fun! It was Austin's first year to stay awake for the fireworks. Patrick said they didn't stop chattering from the moment they left the house until they returned home, full of questions about how fireworks work.
